Web Hosting is usually leased by the year and has many options. Your Web Hosting plan should provide features that you will need to run your business. First, make sure that the service is reliable. You do not want your site intermittently going down unannounced for maintenance or upgrades. This is know as the "Up Time". Next, Make sure your plan provides enough space, email accounts, database connectivity, shopping carts and web statistics for a start.
Before you select a hosting plan, you need to have at least one domain name registered. At the time your hosting is started you will need to provide that domain name so that your hosting account can be associated with it. THis domain name will be your "Primary Domain" and all the rest of domains (if any) that your point to the site will be secondary or "parked" domains. You can add or remove parked domains at any time, but the primary is more difficult to change. (Sometimes the host will not permit changing the primary.)
